Employment creation in Liberia faces extraordinary challenges, including weak infrastructure, limited financing and low institutional capacity. Therefore, interventions to enhance the capacity of the supply side of the employment equation (i.e., potential workforce participants) are often not match, from the demand- side, by available jobs opportunities in the formal sector. It is against this backdrop , we are proposing Empower to Earn(E2E), a social enterprise designed to provide high school and college graduates with specific employable skills, job placement and internship opportunities while guiding them through intensive mentorship and on job coaching needed to increase their effectiveness and productivity. E2E model includes the following components: a. Visual Community( Opportunity Portal) We will create as part of this initiative an online community that will serve as a knowledge hub for young people seeking opportunity to jobs and careers leveraging on technology. This portal will also have features like an online tutorial session that teaches you how to prepare your CV and how to position yourself for hiring. b. Job Placement We will recruit, train and deploy young people who been identified through our recruitment and have passed our eligibility criteria. The training will include general concepts, as well as sector specific practical skills delivered by experienced professionals from Liberia who are currently working in those areas.
Youth unemployment in Liberia is 85% according to the United Nations. 35% of males and 42% of females in youth category are detached from the job market due to the lack of proper skills and training.
